Coronary heart disease is the leading cause of death among all the major diseases. In the United States 36 percent of the people who die do so because of some form of heart or cardiovascular disease. This number is simply staggering and points to the importance of controlling and preventing the suffering that heart disease brings. The good news is that the majority of people can successfully prevent or reverse the effects of this deadly disease with some rather simple lifestyle changes.

The first change that anyone with heart disease must make is dietary. Today’s fast food and processed meal in a box are some of the worst choices anyone can make when it comes to the health of their cardiovascular system. By avoiding saturated and trans-fat that are found in fried foods and some red meats we can significantly reduce the risk posed by coronary heart disease. Both these types of fat cause LDL cholesterol (the bad cholesterol) to increase in the blood stream. This can lead to a build up of plaque which hardens and narrows the arteries leading to a heart attack or stroke.

A diet high in fiber and low in fat is the way to go in preventing heart disease. Fruits, vegetables, low fat products, and whole grains cannot only prevent heart disease it can also reverse the effects of this dangerous condition.

The second lifestyle change that needs to be made to fight the effects of coronary heart disease is exercise. It doesn’t have to be a drastic undertaking. It can be something as simple as taking a walk everyday or using the stairs instead of the elevator. The point is to gradually build up your cardiovascular strength and add to it as you get stronger.

If you smoke then you need to quit. There is nothing that increases the risk of coronary heart disease quite like smoking. Every year more than 135, 000 people in the United States die from heart disease that is caused or exacerbated by the use of tobacco. The risk of death from this disease increases two to three times with the continued use of cigarettes.

There are also certain medical treatments and procedures that are effective in the fight against coronary heart disease. There are a number of medications that help reduce blood pressure or lower levels of LDL cholesterol, but like any drug there are also side affects to using them. Surgery is also an option when the disease has reached the life threatening stage but for most people living a healthy lifestyle will prevent them from ever having to see an operating room.

Avoiding the type of lifestyle that leads to coronary heart disease can help millions of people live long and healthy lives without the fear that they may fall victim to this deadly disease.

Heart disease is a very common disease which is affecting approximately around more than 7% of the population. The most common from of heart disease is known as arteriosclerosis. Arteriosclerosis form of heart disease usually leads to heart attack in the patient. This form of heart disease is characterized by a sudden process where the arteries often get hardened. Besides arteriosclerosis, there are also some other forms of heart disease which are often found to be very much deadly. Cardiomyopathy is yet another form of heart disease which impairs the heart’s function. Cardiomyopathy form of heart disease often damages and weakens the heart. But the most important and the most dangerous from of heart disease is that which eventually damages the entire functioning of the heart. It may start from a simple form of throat infection which when not taken care of or when not treated may lead to the ultimate damage of the heart valves.

Heart disease may be any one among the various types but more importance should be given to its symptoms. The symptoms which are related with various forms of heart disease may be enumerated as below:

? The most common symptom of a heart disease is a slight pain or pressure on the chest and often sometimes might be a devastating sensation which can be felt at the rear end of the breast bone.

? Pain which may also be experienced in the arms, shoulder or legs may also be considered as certain virtual symptom of heart disease.

? The pain may last for a longer period of time. Sometimes heart medications or even rest cannot lessen the heart problem or the pain. But yes, though it may sound ridiculous narcotic drug can help in overcoming of the pain in the heart.

? Heart disease symptoms can also be experienced when there is cold sweat coming out of the body.

? Heart disease can be accompanied with symptoms like nausea and lack of proper inhaling.

? Certain indigestion problems may also cause heart disease.

? Obesity can also lead to the formation of heart disease.

Heart disease is a global problem. Heart disease may often lead to heart attack. Heart attack is also known as myocardial infarction in the medical term. Heart attack usually occurs when the blood pressure gets high and there is the sudden stoppage of the supply of blood to the different parts of the body. So effective care and medical treatment should be meted out to the heart patients.

This article is written to familiarize you with a number of details concerning coronary heart disease. It supplements an earlier article.

There are many different types of heart disease that can affect a person. They all represent significant threats to one’s health, and in this article, we’ll be placing the spotlight on coronary heart disease. It is one of the more serious forms of heart disease and many people suffer from its often-deadly symptoms. We’ll explain the symptoms of the disease, talk about what causes it, and discuss some preventative measures that you can take in order to lessen your chances of developing this disease.

Coronary heart disease is a problem that develops over many years. Plaque begins to develop within the arteries around the heart, which causes them to function improperly. In advanced cases, the blockage caused by the accumulated plaque can cause an artery to be cut off from the heart entirely.

In advanced cases of the disease, a symptom known as angina may occur. Angina can cause sensations of pain to take place in the chest, the arms, or the jaw. Bouts of angina may occur when coronary heart disease is present and the individual is involved in a level of activity. In order to treat the painful symptoms of angina, doctors often employ the procedure known as angioplasty in order to lessen the amount of plaque in the arteries and decrease the pain.

There are several things that you can do in order to prevent this disease. One thing that is important to keep track of is your cholesterol level – they largely dictate your likelihood of developing coronary heart disease. Low levels of LDL cholesterol are key to keeping a healthy heart. Eating mainly vegetables is a great way of lessening your chances of developing this disease – vegetarians have been found to be 24% less likely to develop the disease. Also, you should do your best to avoid eating foods that contain a high level of trans fat – studies have linked the compound to the development of arterial plaques. You can keep your cholesterol low by using medication and sticking to a healthy diet. Another area of concern is smoking cigarettes. The act of smoking cigarettes on a regular basis puts you at a high degree of risk for developing the deadly disease of discussion.

Now that you know more about coronary heart disease, you can better understand the dire situation that it represents. Also, you are more informed about what you can do in order to lessen your chances of developing this deadly disease. If you think that you are at risk, you should speak to your doctor in order to work out a plan that can keep your heart healthy and safe. The more that you ignore a problem with coronary heart disease, the worse off that you will be from a medical standpoint.

It’s not a problem that should be ignored. Coronary heart disease is responsible for widespread death in industrialized countries. Education is paramount to protecting yourself from this deadly disease.

The purpose of this article is to present heart disease facts that might help the reader in preventing heart disease in their life and in the lives of their loved ones.

Heart disease is a problem that affects a very significant number of people in industrialized countries. You can only prevent a case of heart disease from developing if you are informed about the illness, so in this article, we will be discussing some basic heart disease facts so that you will be better suited when it comes to understanding the problem that is known as heart disease.

Although many people realize that heart disease is a significant problem, few realize exactly how many people are afflicted with a heart disease related illness. As many as 1 out of 4 American citizens are victim to some form of heart disease, clearly exemplifying the threat that it presents.

Approximately one million Americans die each and every year as a result of a case of cardiovascular disease.

Cardiovascular disease includes heart disease or strokes; together, these two types of illnesses account for the number one cause of death in industrialized nations for both men and women.

Approximately forty two percent of all deaths are caused by cardiovascular disease.

Studies have shown that those who smoke cigarettes are twice as likely to have a heart attack than those who refrain from smoking. Low levels of physical activity are also associated with a high occurrence of heart attacks, with those who remain relatively stationary having a risk of developing a heart attack that is double that of those with an active lifestyle.

While doctors are often able to see accumulations of plaque present in the arteries surrounding the heart, it can be tough for them to gauge the risk of heart attack, as they often take the patient by surprise with little to no warning.

Since lifestyle choices have so much to do with ones chances of developing cardiovascular disease, it can be a shock to hear that as much as fifty percent of the American population do not participate in sufficient levels of physical activity.

Diet can have a lot to do with the development of cardiovascular disease, as well. Some studies have shown that those who maintain a vegetarian diet have a chance of developing cardiovascular disease that is twenty four percent less likely than those who eat meat

One good way of ensuring that you are maintaining your health when it comes to preventing heart disease is to measure your cholesterol. Proper cholesterol levels should be worked towards. Cholesterol levels that are above 200 mg/dl for total blood cholesterol, with LDL levels that are above 130 mg/dl or HDL levels that are below 35 mg/dl, as well as lipoprotein levels that are higher than 30 mg/dl represent a risk that needs to be addressed.

Now that you know much more about the ways to prevent cardiovascular disease and just how common the problem is, you will be better suited for diagnosing the problem and dealing with it. If you think that you are at risk for cardiovascular disease or any other form of heart disease, you should speak to a doctor in order to ensure that there is no problem present. Prevention is the key to surviving heart disease, so be sure to stay active and healthy!

Heart disease prevention is of prime importance in the United States, since heart disease is our leading cause of death. It is also a major cause of disability, costing many people their jobs and their freedom.

Heart disease prevention becomes especially important as you age. Men who have passed age 45, and women who have passed age 55, are at far greater risk than younger people. If you have a family history of heart disease, your risks increase again. If you are genetically predisposed to build-ups of cholesterol deposits, the risks are even greater.

All of this sounds like a losing battle, but there are things you can do. Heart disease prevention measures can be taken.

Heart Disease Prevention Tips

There are no guarantees when it comes to heart disease, but if you follow the tips below, you will be doing much to reduce your risks of dying from this disease. This information is for educational purposes only, however, and the reader should seek advice from a medical professional.

1. Weight: You have no doubt heard that you should maintain a healthy weight as a matter of heart disease prevention. Excess weight causes the heart to work harder, putting stress on this vital muscle. It is important to learn what a healthy weight is, given your height, age, and gender. Then take steps to reach and maintain that weight. The weight loss business is huge in America, so you will find plenty of help. Ask your doctor for advice before you begin a diet, though.

2. Exercise: The second most common means of heart disease prevention is physical exercise. The heart is a muscle. As such, it can be strengthened through regular exercise. Exercise should be guided by your health care provider, but it should not be avoided unless other medical concerns prevent it. Exercise will send vital, health-giving oxygen to your heart. You should have regular exercise each day, walking or jogging if possible. In addition, train yourself to park farther from the door; take stairs instead of elevators and escalators; get off the bus one or two stops before you must, and walk the last few blocks. Heart disease prevention can often be a matter of changing a few habits.

3. Smoking: If you smoke tobacco, you should stop immediately. This relatively easy form of heart disease prevention can be done readily. Although many people claim addiction requiring medical intervention, studies show that 90% of those who quit smoking do it on their own, without medical help. I have personally seen individuals make a single decision, and never smoke again.

4. Healthy Eating: If you name this form of heart disease prevention a diet, chances are you will rebel inwardly. Nobody likes to diet. You should, however, adopt a healthy way of eating. Load the menu with fresh fruits and vegetables, leaving less room for fatty meats and sweets. Avoid junk foods like potato chips and corn chips. Refuse the candy bars, and have a health bar instead.

5. Blood Pressure: Many people find that they have elevated blood pressure levels as they get older. It is important to find out what your blood pressure is, and take any steps necessary to get it under control and keep it there. High blood pressure creates another unnecessary demand on your heart. Your physician may prescribe medication to lower your blood pressure. In addition, you may want to increase your potassium intake, lose weight, and exercise. Normal blood pressure is important to heart disease prevention.

6. Diabetes: Ask your physician to test you for diabetes. Diabetes also is a risk for heart disease, but it can be controlled. If you have it, follow your doctor’s advice in every way. Diabetes greatly increases your risks of heart disease, stroke, and heart attack.

7. Cholesterol: It is widely accepted in medical circles that high cholesterol levels, especially high LDL cholesterol levels, put you at further risk for heart disease. Cholesterol levels can be reduced. Your physician may prescribe a cholesterol-lowering drug. In addition, you will want to do your part for heart disease prevention. When shopping, choose low fat dairy products and cheese instead of richer options. Trim the fat from meat before you cook it. If it isn’t on your plate, you will not eat it.

These 7 heart disease prevention steps can make a big difference in your life. They may, in fact, extend your life. Discuss them with your doctor, and enlist your family’s support in following them.

It is said that immediately after a famous person has a heart attack or major heart surgery, hundreds of people schedule physical examinations – especially men.

The heart disease is not, of course, an advantageous experience for the famous person undergoing it. It can awaken them to their need for lifestyle changes, but other than that, it is just as excruciating for the famous as for those who have no claim to fame.

No One Is Invincible

Whether it is a famous person with heart disease or a person who is famous only to his or her family, no one is invincible. That may be one of the biggest lessons to be learned from hearing of yet another famous person with heart disease. Another big lesson is that we should all heed the multitude of warnings, and take action to prevent heart disease in ourselves and our loved ones.

Congestive heart disease is the hearts inability to supply enough oxygen and nutrients to meet the needs of the human body. It is commonly caused by a weaken heart muscle, hardening of the arteries, some lung diseases such as cancer and emphysema. Over five million Americans suffer from this disease and it is believed that over half of them will die from their condition within the next 5 years. Congestive heart disease is the leading cause of hospitalization among senior citizens.

A previous heart attack, advanced age, and diabetes are all factors in developing congestive heart disease. While all of these medical conditions are treatable the damage done to the heart muscle cannot be reversed.

Another risk factor that cannot be changed when dealing with congestive heart disease is having a genetic disposition to the disease. Genetic testing and knowledge of the complete family history can go a long way in indicating whether or not congestive heart disease is something that should be a concern for you.

While some risk factors for congestive heart disease cannot be helped, there are many things that you can do to reduce the risk of developing this disease. These factors include such things as chronic high blood pressure, drug or alcohol abuse, thyroid disease, and even heart valve disease.

The best course of action to take is to reduce your risk of developing congestive heart disease and improve the quality of life. Unfortunately, congestive heart disease is difficult to diagnose because it often occurs as a result of or in conjunction with other forms of heart disease. Perhaps the best hope for patients with this disease is to catch it early and begin treatment as soon as possible.

Common Vitamins and over the counter products can help with Heart Disease such as Copper, Calcium, Magnesium, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Zinc, Vitamin B, Ginkgo Plus and M.S.M.

There is strong evidence that trace mineral Copper is vital to the tensile strength of the coronary blood vessels.

Scientists have found that people who drink hard water, water rich in calcium and magnesium, stand less chance of developing cardiovascular disease that people who drink soft water.

Vitamin C is essential for defending the body against pollution and infection. It enhances the immune system and aids in growth and repair of bone and tissue. Vitamin C has show to reduce cholesterol levels and lowers high blood pressure.

Vitamin E supplies Oxygen to the heart and the other muscles in the body. Accelerates wound healing and aids in the functioning of the immune system.

Zinc is needed for healing and maintaining healthy tissues. Amino Acids are the building blocks of protein and are the vital components of skin, hair, muscle tissue, the body’s organs, blood cells, various enzymes and hormones. Zinc also has a profound influence on the body’s ability to resist disease.

Vitamin B taken together as B-Complex work as a team to perform vital biological processes, including energy production and efficient metabolic function.

Ginkgo Plus supplies a comprehensive range of important nutrients needed for the proper functioning of the vascular system and for improving blood circulation to the brain.

M.S.M maintains the development of the body’s protein by forming flexible disulfide bonds between certain amino acids and in maintaining the strength of connective tissue. This allows water and nutrients to flow freely into cells and allows toxins to flow freely out of the cells. M.S.M increases athletic stamina and helps eliminate muscle soreness. M.S.M is a natural supplement that is getting a lot of attention due to its role in tissue healing at the cellular level. It is a natural organic sulfur that comes from rain fall and is found naturally in the human body.

If you are at risk from Congestive Heart Disease then find a good health care professional prior to starting any type of home treatment.

Five hundred thousand American women die each year from heart diseases and the risks increases with age. Heart disease includes the narrowing of the arteries, heart failure, diseases of the heart muscles, inborn defects, hardening of the arties, and other conditions.

We tend to think of men as the ones who commonly have heart diseases but heart diseases is the leading killer of both men and women in the United States. Scientists who are studying the cause of the rise in cardiac problems in woman have identified two factors that appear to be the leading cause of hard disease in woman.

The Change of Life.

After menopause, a woman’s body experiences reduced estrogen production, changes in cholesterol levels, changes in the structure of blood vessels, and increased production of the clotting agent fibrinogen. Women who have gone through menopause are two to three times more likely to suffer heart disease than a pre-menopausal woman of the same age. Women that have had a hysterectomy also experience these same raised risk factors. No one yet knows exactly how much a woman’s risk is affected by each of these changes, but they are definitely associated with greater heart disease risk.

Scientists studying women and heart disease hypothesized that hormone replacement therapy could help post-menopausal women fight heart disease; however, long-term studies do not confirm that preliminary idea and doctors no longer recommend hormone replacement therapy to battle heart disease.

When talking about your heart disease risk factors with your doctor, get his or her opinion on using hormonal birth control (the pill or the patch). Most doctors believe that using birth control is reasonable safe for women under thirty-five if no other risk factors are involved such as smoking or being overweigh. For women over the age of thirty-file there is not enough evidence that birth control hormones can increase or decrease heart disease in women and more studies are being conducted.

A Change of Lifestyle.

Scientists studying women and heart disease find that women are knowledgeable about what lifestyles are associated with heart disease, and yet they are still prone to maintain those unhealthy lifestyles. For example, according to the National Institutes of Health, fifty-six million American women have high cholesterol, 33% of women have high blood pressure, and 62% of women are overweight. Despite these risks, women are less physically active than men, on average.

The best course of action to take is to reduce your risk of developing congestive heart disease and improve the quality of life. Habits such as not smoking, maintaining a healthy weight by regular activity or exercise, cutting down on the fatty foods, and getting your cholesterol tested can dramatically help prevent heart disease. Don’t become another statistic about women and heart disease.

Common Vitamins and over the counter products can help with Heart Disease such as Sytrinol, Policosanol, Potassium, Pectin, and Niacin.

Sytrinol are known to be useful in helping maintain a healthy cholesterol level in the body by reducing triglycerides and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) levels.

Policosanol is a natural supplement derived from sugar cane. Policosanol promotes healthy platelet function and helps to maintain normal cholesterol levels in the human body.

Potassium may help prevent high blood pressure and protect against artherosclerosis and reduce the risk of stroke.

Pectin limits the amount of cholesterol the body can absorb. High pectin count in apples may be why “One a day keeps the doctor away”.

If you are at risk from Heart Disease then find a good health care professional prior to starting any type of home treatment.

Niacin is the closest thing available to a perfect treatment that corrects most causes of coronary heart disease. Niacin blocks the release of fatty acids from fat cells. Niacin plays a critical role in energy production, gene expression, and hormone synthesis. You cannot live without it. Niacin also tends to shift LDL particle distribution to larger particle size and improve HDL functioning. The intake of 3 grams Niacin for as little as two weeks can reduce serum cholesterol by 26 percent.

Always consult your doctor before using this information.

Heart disease is perhaps the nation’s most prevalent killer of men and women and it may be one of the most easily preventable diseases of the modern civilization in the 40 to 70 age group. Because of this, there is constant research being conducted to find a cure for heart disease. Although there is no official cure as of yet, a few procedures and treatments do show a great deal of promise.

Coronary Arteriosclerosis is the blockage and narrowing of the blood vessels and is commonly referred to as hardening of the arties. It is characterized by the thickening and hardening of the arties. This loss of elastically and narrowing of the arties can lead to high blood pressure and if left untreated, increases the chance of a stroke.

Studies indicate that a drastic change in diet and exercise practices can in fact reverse or even cure heart disease. The same methods used to prevent heart disease can possibly be a way to cure heart disease.

The Dean Ornish Program is based on a whole food and a plant-based diet; this program is a very regimented and regulated plan as a cure for heart disease. According to this program, there are a number of steps that are necessary to reverse the affect of this killer disease.

The first in the Dean Ornish Program is to lower the fat intake to 10% of your total daily calorie intake. This action alone has been shown to lower cholesterol and lower high blood pressure, both major contributing factors of heart disease. Also, this plan calls for lowering the intake of dietary cholesterol by a drastic amount and to increase your intake of soy protein to 15% of your total daily calorie intake.

The second major point of the program is to have at least 30 minutes of strenuous exercise every day to help maintain a healthy weight and body condition. All these factors, as well as quitting smoking and only drinking in small quantities appear to be very promising techniques for a cure for heart disease.

Different stress management techniques such as meditation, anger management, and even being among friends are great ways to help in the cure for heart disease. Many studies indicate that joining a support group and having the encouragement of family and friends is a fantastic way to help beat this disease.

Sometimes drastic changes in diet or exercise practices are not really available to the patient. Diet and exercise should always be the first change made in finding a cure for heart disease, but sometimes surgery might be a possibility.

Although surgery is drastic, and it doesn’t always fix the underlying problem of bad diet or poor exercise habits that contributed to the disease, it can be one method for a cure for heart disease. One such common surgery is that of angioplasty. This procedure uses a tiny balloon to push open blocked arteries around the heart to aid in the flow of blood, and help in the cure for heart disease.

Another surgical method that is gaining popularity in the cure for heart disease is that of bypass surgery. In this procedure, small pieces of veins or arteries are taken from another portion of the body, sometimes the arms or legs, and used to create a ‘bypass’ for the blood around the blocked blood vessel.

Which cure for heart disease is correct for you can only be decided by consulting with your chosen medical professional, and perhaps even consulting a cardiologist would be in order. Most likely the best cure for heart disease would be a combination of exercise diet, and surgical options as outlined by your doctor.

Common Vitamins and over the counter products can help with Heart Disease such as Vitamin C, EPA, Foti, and Niacin.

Vitamin C has been shown to combat the development of cholesterol deposits in the arteries. Within a few hours after receiving vitamin C patients showed a sharp decline in the cholesterol levels of the blood.

Studies of the Greenland Eskimos lack of heart attacks have show that Eico-Sapentaenoic Acid (EPA) lowers blood cholesterol considerably, even more than polyunsaturated fat does. It also triggers a major drop in triglycerides. Salmon Oil is one of the best known sources of natural EPA.

Foti can lower the cholesterol in the blood by inhibiting its absorption in the intestines, which assists in the prevention of arteriosclerosis and other heart related diseases.

There are two types of heart valve disease–heart disease resulting from narrowed heart valves, and heart disease resulting from leaky heart valves. Each of them stems from several different causes, ranging from birth defects, to bacterial infection, to aging.

Congential Heart Valve Disease
Congenital heart valve is the most common, and can result in inflexible or narrowed, or floppy, valves, or irregular valve flaps. Congenital heart valve disease is often diagnosed within a few days of a baby’s birth, but if the defect is minor, may not be discovered until much later. Heart valve disease can be very hard to diagnose because some forms of it do not produce symptoms.

Some people, however, acquire heart valve disease because of complications from another disease such as heart muscle disease, coronary artery disease and heart attack. A child who has suffered from a rheumatic heart disease because of a simple strep throat will likely to have a valvular disease when he or she reaches adulthood.

Heart valve disease, however, can also develop as a complication from some other illness; children who have had rheumatic fever following an untreated case of strep throat have a greater than fifty percent chance of developing scarring on their heart valves. A heart with scarred valves has to work harder than one with smooth ones, and as the years mount, the extra strain on the heart can lead to rheumatic heart disease.

Endiocarditis

Another form of heart valve disease which can result from infection is endiocarditis. Endiocarditis develops when bacteria enters the bloodstream during surgery or dental procedures, causing inflammation of the heart and scarring both its valves and leaflets. In the case of endiocarditis, the scarred leaflets will allow blood entering the heart to back up, or “regurgitate,” diminishing the blood volume within the heart and the amount of blood and oxygen which reaches the body’s other organs. For more info see http://www.treatheartdiseasehelp.com/Congestive_Heart_Disease/ on Congestive Heart Disease

The elderly are susceptible to heart valve disease resulting from calcification, or calcium deposit buildup, along the valves.

Testing For Heart Valve Disease

Echocardiograms and MRIs are the tests best suited to diagnose heart valve disease. Either one will give the cardiologist a good look at abnormalities both in the main chambers of the heart and all its smaller structures including the valves.

Symptoms of heart valve disease can include vertigo resulting from a quick shift of positions, such as standing up or sitting, heart palpitations or racing, shortness of breath after minimal activity, and sever afternoon fatigue.

Those experiencing any of these symptoms on a regular basis should arrange to see a cardiologist and be tested for a heart murmurs, a strong indication of heart valve disease.
