Coronary heart disease is the leading cause of death among all the major diseases. In the United States 36 percent of the people who die do so because of some form of heart or cardiovascular disease. This number is simply staggering and points to the importance of controlling and preventing the suffering that heart disease brings. The good news is that the majority of people can successfully prevent or reverse the effects of this deadly disease with some rather simple lifestyle changes.

The first change that anyone with heart disease must make is dietary. Today’s fast food and processed meal in a box are some of the worst choices anyone can make when it comes to the health of their cardiovascular system. By avoiding saturated and trans-fat that are found in fried foods and some red meats we can significantly reduce the risk posed by coronary heart disease. Both these types of fat cause LDL cholesterol (the bad cholesterol) to increase in the blood stream. This can lead to a build up of plaque which hardens and narrows the arteries leading to a heart attack or stroke.

A diet high in fiber and low in fat is the way to go in preventing heart disease. Fruits, vegetables, low fat products, and whole grains cannot only prevent heart disease it can also reverse the effects of this dangerous condition.

The second lifestyle change that needs to be made to fight the effects of coronary heart disease is exercise. It doesn’t have to be a drastic undertaking. It can be something as simple as taking a walk everyday or using the stairs instead of the elevator. The point is to gradually build up your cardiovascular strength and add to it as you get stronger.

If you smoke then you need to quit. There is nothing that increases the risk of coronary heart disease quite like smoking. Every year more than 135, 000 people in the United States die from heart disease that is caused or exacerbated by the use of tobacco. The risk of death from this disease increases two to three times with the continued use of cigarettes.

There are also certain medical treatments and procedures that are effective in the fight against coronary heart disease. There are a number of medications that help reduce blood pressure or lower levels of LDL cholesterol, but like any drug there are also side affects to using them. Surgery is also an option when the disease has reached the life threatening stage but for most people living a healthy lifestyle will prevent them from ever having to see an operating room.

Avoiding the type of lifestyle that leads to coronary heart disease can help millions of people live long and healthy lives without the fear that they may fall victim to this deadly disease.

What is sickness? What is disease? Why are both of these
ailments extremely prevalent in a society that is more
technologically advanced than ever before? In an age where man
can build super scud missiles, devastating nuclear war heads,
and can build space rovers that can roll on the planet Mars
thousands and thousands of miles away, why has there not been a
cure for the common cold? Why has sickness and disease remained
an issue since biblical times?

The definition for sickness is to be in a disordered, weakened,
or unsound condition. In other words, when one is sick, there is
something that is within that individual that is out of
alignment, lacking strength, and the internal infrastructure is
fragile.

Disease is defined as a condition of the living animal or plant
body or of one of its parts that impairs normal functioning.
Disease is also defined as a harmful development.

Without question, our bodies are not built to resist sickness
and disease. So what is the key to winning the battle of health
and strength?

Well, the answer to these questions are definitely in the bible.
But before we go any further, there is one thing that needs to
be stately clearly.

Hosea 4:6 reads “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge:
because thou has rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee,
that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou has forgotten
the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.”

We are susceptible to sickness and disease because we do not
prepare ourselves to battle against them. To be equipped to
fight sickness and disease, we must obtain the knowledge of how
to defend ourselves, and this knowledge is found in the Word of
God. Sickness and disease, just like spiritual ailments such as
anger, violence and immorality, can lead to spiritual and
physical enslavement. There are three derivatives of spiritual
enslavement that we must conquer in order to rebuke and repel
sickness and disease – Bondage, Oppression, and Curses.

Bondage is the servitude or subjugation to a controlling person
or force. Just like a man being in bondage through drug abuse or
fornication, man can be in bondage, or under control of sickness
and disease in the same manner. Is it a coincidence that some
people are more susceptible to sickness and disease than others?
I think not. Lacking the understanding that we have been set
free from sickness and disease by the mighty work that Jesus
Christ did on the cross, we will continue to live life with a
slave’s mentality, freedom being hidden from our eyes through
our lack of knowledge and understanding of God’s Word.

Isaiah 53:5 reads “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he
was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace
was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”

The lashes on Jesus’ body represent all sickness and disease. We
don’t have to accept sickness and disease because we were
pre-destined to be healed by the stripes of Jesus Christ. The
important part of the verse is the present tense statement “we
are healed.” Healing is not a phenomena that happened when Jesus
walked on earth, but it is a phenomena for today, this hour and
this very second.

Not only is sickness and disease a form of bondage, but it is
also a form of oppression. Oppression is the unjust or cruel
exercise of authority or power and a sense of being weighed down
in the body or mind.

Acts 10:38

How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with
power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were
oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

Oppression needs healing. Oppression can also act as a disease.
It is the power of God through the anointing of the Holy Spirit
that destroys the yoke of oppression. In Matthew 11:30, Jesus
states “my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” It is the
light yoke of Jesus Christ that we must take on, in exchange for
the heavy burden of oppression that can weigh us down physically
or mentally.

Beyond being in bondage and oppression, sickness and disease are
also curses. Curses are caused by disobedience of the law of
God, His commandments and His will. Our disobedience creates a
spiritual breach in which the enemy, the devil, can step in and
throw his darts of sickness and disease at our bodies without
resistance. There is no resistance against the devil because God
lifts His hand and anointing from us when we are disobedient.

Deuteronomy 28:61

Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in
the book of this law, them will the LORD bring upon thee, until
thou be destroyed.

In Deuteronomy 28, God specifically lays out the game plan for
blessings and curses. The blessings and curses hinge upon our
obedience, or disobedience of God’s Word. We can defeat and
rebuke curses that are knocking at our door by maintaining a
good standard of obedience to the Word of God.

For so long have the people of God fallen in the hands of
religious tradition that teaches sickness and disease are part
of life, and that they come and go as they please. This false
teaching is a total lie and it derived straight from the pits of
hell. Satan does not want us to understand the power that we
have over sickness and disease. Honestly, he has done a good job
using false teaching to keep us bound, oppressed and cursed.

Let us all rise up, stand on the Word of God, the Word of Truth,
and rebuke the devourer and his plans of bringing sickness and
disease into our lives. Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there
is liberty! Therefore, we are free from every trap and snare
that Satan tries to set up for us, including sickness and
disease!

Heart disease is a very common disease which is affecting approximately around more than 7% of the population. The most common from of heart disease is known as arteriosclerosis. Arteriosclerosis form of heart disease usually leads to heart attack in the patient. This form of heart disease is characterized by a sudden process where the arteries often get hardened. Besides arteriosclerosis, there are also some other forms of heart disease which are often found to be very much deadly. Cardiomyopathy is yet another form of heart disease which impairs the heart’s function. Cardiomyopathy form of heart disease often damages and weakens the heart. But the most important and the most dangerous from of heart disease is that which eventually damages the entire functioning of the heart. It may start from a simple form of throat infection which when not taken care of or when not treated may lead to the ultimate damage of the heart valves.

Heart disease may be any one among the various types but more importance should be given to its symptoms. The symptoms which are related with various forms of heart disease may be enumerated as below:

? The most common symptom of a heart disease is a slight pain or pressure on the chest and often sometimes might be a devastating sensation which can be felt at the rear end of the breast bone.

? Pain which may also be experienced in the arms, shoulder or legs may also be considered as certain virtual symptom of heart disease.

? The pain may last for a longer period of time. Sometimes heart medications or even rest cannot lessen the heart problem or the pain. But yes, though it may sound ridiculous narcotic drug can help in overcoming of the pain in the heart.

? Heart disease symptoms can also be experienced when there is cold sweat coming out of the body.

? Heart disease can be accompanied with symptoms like nausea and lack of proper inhaling.

? Certain indigestion problems may also cause heart disease.

? Obesity can also lead to the formation of heart disease.

Heart disease is a global problem. Heart disease may often lead to heart attack. Heart attack is also known as myocardial infarction in the medical term. Heart attack usually occurs when the blood pressure gets high and there is the sudden stoppage of the supply of blood to the different parts of the body. So effective care and medical treatment should be meted out to the heart patients.

Both Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease afflict around 500,000 individuals annually with their eroding and life-sapping effects. While Alzheimer’s robs memories and personality and ultimately leads to lowered motor function, Parkinson’s disease steals the person of rudimentary motor function resulting in a trembling or palsy to dominate the body. Scientists have contemplated for years whether or not there was a link between both diseases, either in terms of genetics or environmental reasons which initiated the onset of both Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Disease.

Parkinson’s disease is an incurable illness of the nervous system involving the neuro-transmitters in the brain starting to become defective, causing a bodily shaking and limbs that gets increasingly poor as time goes by. Symptoms of austerity and difficulty walking at a regular bearing also appear over time. Ultimately this disease will steal the person’s ability to regulate their balance consequenting in more trips and falls, which is a consideration for their well being.

Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease are dissimilar in that Parkinson’s disease seems to concentrate more on physical handicaps, Alzheimer’s disease appears to afflict the mental abilities prior to the motor skills and physical skills deteriorating. Common everyday absent-mindedness evolves into disorientation and forgetfulness which become a major issue for daily functioning. The whereabouts of houses or recalling the faces of kids or buddies becomes increasingly troublesome with time. Eventually, the personality can change as a result of the disease.

In spring 2003, a scientific study found that there may well be a direct link between Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. In the scientific study, it contended that more aged adults who contract the shakes and other quintessential symptoms of Parkinson’s disease may be as much as eightfold more likely to develop Alzheimer’s disease as well. Additionally, it has been displayed that the symptoms of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease can be very much alike and possibly develop along the same lines, although the ultimate cause may be different.

It has also been suggested in disease research that Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease could possibly have a connection with how both diseases progress as the years go by. The former study released in the spring 2003 publication of The Archives of Neurology observed the development of symptoms linked with Parkinson’s disease among 824 Catholic church attenders with 75 years of age being the average, and who had no obvious signs of Alzheimer’s disease at the start of the study. Around four and half years later, 79% of the study’s individuals found a more speedy development of the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. Those who experienced the speedier progression, it was discovered that they were eight times more likely to possess symptoms of both Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.

Is there a link between Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease? To date, medical professionals are still discussing that suggestion, but increasingly more research studies seem to imply that there is possibly a connection between these two debilitating illnesses. Hopefully in time research will be able to explain the link, if any, linking Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.

Dogs and puppies can pass germs, diseases and worms on to people, but it does not occur often. There are certain precautions that you can take to help prevent this from happening. First and foremost, make sure that the dog or puppy you are playing with looks healthy. Do not touch or contact an obviously sick dog. Make sure that your personal dog has regular check ups and is checked for worms by your veterinarian. Look for obvious signs of disease such as spots missing fur on your dog. Hot spots or places that your dog keeps chewing or biting at can be another sign of infection.

One of the best lines of defense from getting sick from contact with a dog is to wash your hands well, especially with anti-bacterial soap. After dog or puppy contact, keep your hands away from your face, especially your mouth. Do not eat finger foods after dog contact until you can wash. Do not let your dog lick you on your face. Try not to have contact with dog saliva, urine or dog feces.

Dogs and puppies can carry a fair variety of bacteria, parasites, fungus and worms. Some of these are fairly common in dogs and others are quite rare. Some people are more likely than others to catch these diseases. Some of the factors associated with catching the diseases depend upon the persons age and status of their health. People who are more likely to get diseases from dogs include infants, children younger than 5 years old, organ transplant patients, people with HIV/AIDS, and people being treated for cancer.

The following diseases may be carried by dogs:

Brucella canis Infection (brucellosis): A bacterial disease rarely associated with dogs.

Campylobacter Infection (campylobacteriosis): A bacterial disease associated with dogs, cats, and farm animals. If your dog has diarrhea, you may want to consult with your veterinarian, as this disease may be the culprit and it is passable to humans. If you develop symptoms, including diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, and/or nausea, contact your physician. Be sure to inform him or her of your pet and if it is ill.

Cryptosporidium (cryptosporidiosis): A parasitic disease associated with dogs, especially puppies, cats, and farm animals. Animals can carry this parasite in their feces and pass it to people. Animals do not have to be ill to pass Cryptosporidium to humans, they may just carry the disease. This disease usually causes a mild to severe infection of the gastrointestinal system, including watery diarrhea, fever, abdominal cramps, nausea, and vomiting.

Dipylidium Infection (tapeworm): A parasitic disease associated with dogs, cats and fleas. Fleas carry the tapeworm and the dog must swallow the flea (which may easily happen during grooming) to allow the tapeworms to hatch and grown in the dog. For a person to become infected with Dipylidium, or tapeworm, he or she must accidentally swallow an infected flea. Most reported cases involve children. The risk of infection with this tapeworm in humans is low.

Giardia Infection (giardiasis): A parasitic disease associated with various animals, including dogs and their environment (including water). The Giardia parasite lives in the intestine of infected humans or animals. Millions of germs can be released in a bowel movement from an infected human or animal. Giardia is found in soil, food, water, or surfaces that have been contaminated with the feces from infected humans or animals.

Hookworm Infection: A parasitic disease associated with dogs and cats and their environment. Puppies and kittens are especially likely to have hookworm infections. Animals that are infected pass hookworm eggs in their stools. The eggs can hatch into larvae, and both eggs and larvae may be found in dirt where animals have been. Eggs or larvae can get into your body when you accidentally eat or have direct contact with contaminated dirt. For example, this can happen if a child is walking barefoot or playing in an area where dogs or cats have been.

Leishmania Infection (leishaniasis): A parasitic disease associated with dogs and sand flies outside the United States.

Leptospira Infection (leptospirosis): A bacterial disease associated with wild and domestic animals, including dogs. In people, the symptoms are often like the flu, but sometimes leptospirosis can develop into a more severe, life-threatening illness with infections in the kidney, liver, brain, lung, and heart.

Lyme Disease: A bacterial disease that can affect dogs and ticks. People get Lyme disease when they are bitten by ticks carrying B. burgdorferi, and this is in certain parts of the country.

Q Fever (Coxiella burnettii): A bacterial disease occasionally associated with dogs, but more often associated with sheep, cattle and goats, especially their birth products.

Rabies: A viral disease associated with various animals, including dogs. This is fairly rare in the US.
Ringworm: A fungal disease associated with dogs. Ringworm is transmitted from direct contact with an infected animal’s skin or hair. Dogs and cats, especially kittens or puppies, can have ringworm that can be passed to people.

Gum disease otherwise known as periodontal disease is not a pleasurable experience. Although some specific forms of gum diseases are not painful and do not inhibit any signs or symptoms until the disease is on its advanced phase. It is important to avoid gum disease, because not only does the disease ruin the beautiful smile on your face, it also can bring complications like heart disease.

Gum disease is the inflammation and infection of the gums, the connecting fiber that supports and surrounds the teeth, and the bone of the teeth. Gum disease is one of the leading causes of loss of tooth among adults over 30. Gum disease is commonly caused by bacterial plaque. Bacterial plaque is a sticky, colorless substance that forms on the teeth. If the bacterial plaque on the teeth is not removed by way of brushing or flossing the teeth, it will accumulate and hardens into substance called calculus or more known as tartar.

The good news is that, if the gum disease is detected on its early stage, it can be treated and reversed. There are lots and lots of natural gum disease remedies readily available. Using natural gum disease remedies will not only give fast healing process, it will also provide better oral health care. Vitamin C is one of the good natural gum disease remedies found today. Vitamin C is popularly known as an antioxidant. Antioxidants help repair the connective fibers and hasten the regeneration of the bone or bones that were damaged by the gum disease. Individuals who are vitamin C deficient are known to have high probability to experience gum disease.

Also one of the best natural gum disease remedies known today is tea tree oil gel. Tea tree oil gel is proven to be effective against severe chronic gingivitis (a mild form of gum disease). Tea tree oil gel is effective in reducing the degree of gum bleeding and gingivitis. Cranberry juice is also one of the natural gum disease remedies. Cranberry juice prevents the bacteria from sticking to the teeth, thus, reducing the build up of plaque.

Vitamin D is also one of the best natural gum disease remedies easily available. Vitamin D is known to have anti-inflammatory effects hereby reducing or minimizing the susceptibility to gum disease. Researchers found out that individuals who have high vitamin D levels in their blood are less apt to experience bleeding in their gums during gum probing. Vitamin D is the most readily available natural gum disease remedies because sunlight is the most abundant source of vitamin D. Experts recommend 10 to 15 minutes of sun exposure must be done two times a week to have sufficient amount of vitamin D in the blood level.

Always remember that prevention is the always the best cure. Exercise regular oral hygiene routine to have and maintain a healthy and gum disease free smile.

The colon is a very important organ that performs a very vital function in the human body. The colon is responsible for eliminating a large bulk of wastes formed from the digestive process, and is sort of the sewerage system in a person. It is thus important to maintain the health of the colon because improperly functioning bowels can cause disastrous problems in the body. Knowing about diseases that the colon may acquire can help in keeping one’s colon health in check.

Colon disease vary in their gravity, some may just be mild irritation while others can be a threat to life. The four most common kinds of colon disease include non-cancerous polyps, ulcerative colitis, diverticular disease and Crohn’s disease.

Polyps

Colon polyps are basically abnormal growths of tissue that appear in the lining of the colon, protruding into intestine’s canal. While polyps are normally not serious, they can develop cancer cells later if not detected early. There are three subtypes of polyps and polyp-related diseases: ordinary polyps, familial adenomatous polposis, and Lynch Syndrome.

Ordinary polyps occur sporadically among people aged 40 to 60. These polyps may progress into cancer within ten years, and thus they are often removed with colonoscopy. Familial adenomatous polyposis or FAP is a hereditary disease that is characterized by the occurrence polyps in the colon by the hundreds or even thousands, with great chances of developing cancer and thus treatment entails removal of the colon. Lynch Syndrome is another hereditary condition that is more common than FAP, although less common than ordinary polyps, and unlike FAP, which occurs as early as age ten, Lynch Syndrome usually appears as late as the 40s or as early as the 20s.

Ulcerative Colitis

Ulcerative colitis is characterized by the inflammation in the mucosa, the deepest lining of the colon or rectum. Ulcers or small open sores would form on the lining’s surface, producing blood, pus and mucus. Around 500,000 to about two million people in America suffer this disease and most of the patients are below the age 30.

Ulcerative Colitis usually manifests with abdominal pain, rectal bleeding, constipation, bloating, diarrhea, fatigue, fevers, or weight loss. Patients who experience excessive bleeding may also develop anemia and malnutrition, especially for children. The symptoms of this disease can disappear and reappear within months or years.

Diverticular Disease

Some people develop pockets in the walls of their colon, these pockets are called dierticula and their presence is what doctors refer to as diverticulosis while their inflammation is called diverticulitis. Complications can happen when infection reaches diverticula. The pockets may rupture causing bowel blockage or leaking of the bowel wall. Another great danger is the introduction of harmful bacteria causing abscesses and even small tears in the colon walls that could lead to life threatening abscesses in the abdomen.

Many people who have diverticular disease may not know about it because diverticulosis usually do not have symptoms. At most, people have mild cramps, constipation and bloating. Diverticulitis on the other hand manifests with abdominal pain, soreness around the lower left side of the abdomen, fever, vomiting, nausea, chills, and cramping. The gravity of these symptoms greatly depends on the extent of complications and infection.

Crohn’s Disease

Crohn’s disease, which is also known as enteritis or ileitis, is a digestive tract disease characterized by the chronic inflammation of the colon and other parts of the digestive tract. It affects about 500,000 to two million Americans and can recur over a patient’s lifetime. Oftentimes, Crohn’s Disease is hard to detect because it has similar symptoms to other colon disorders like ulcerative colitis and irritable bowel syndrome.

The usual symptoms of Crohn’s disease are abdominal pain, cramping, diarrhea, weight loss, fever, anal pain, bloating, anal drainage, rectal abscesses, joint pain, skin lesions and fissure. Some patients bleed to the extent of developing anemia. Crohn’s disease may stunt the growth and development of children due to the malabsorption of protein and other important nutrients.

Crohn’s disease may sometimes result into ulcers that could tunnel to surrounding tissues and areas such as the vagina, and bladder. Fistulas, or abnormal tunnels, may also result from Crohn’s disease.

Knowing about colon diseases is just a small part of keeping one’s digestive health on the right track. Regular checkups for colon disease or other illnesses are necessary to ensure good health and general well being.

This article is written to familiarize you with a number of details concerning coronary heart disease. It supplements an earlier article.

There are many different types of heart disease that can affect a person. They all represent significant threats to one’s health, and in this article, we’ll be placing the spotlight on coronary heart disease. It is one of the more serious forms of heart disease and many people suffer from its often-deadly symptoms. We’ll explain the symptoms of the disease, talk about what causes it, and discuss some preventative measures that you can take in order to lessen your chances of developing this disease.

Coronary heart disease is a problem that develops over many years. Plaque begins to develop within the arteries around the heart, which causes them to function improperly. In advanced cases, the blockage caused by the accumulated plaque can cause an artery to be cut off from the heart entirely.

In advanced cases of the disease, a symptom known as angina may occur. Angina can cause sensations of pain to take place in the chest, the arms, or the jaw. Bouts of angina may occur when coronary heart disease is present and the individual is involved in a level of activity. In order to treat the painful symptoms of angina, doctors often employ the procedure known as angioplasty in order to lessen the amount of plaque in the arteries and decrease the pain.

There are several things that you can do in order to prevent this disease. One thing that is important to keep track of is your cholesterol level – they largely dictate your likelihood of developing coronary heart disease. Low levels of LDL cholesterol are key to keeping a healthy heart. Eating mainly vegetables is a great way of lessening your chances of developing this disease – vegetarians have been found to be 24% less likely to develop the disease. Also, you should do your best to avoid eating foods that contain a high level of trans fat – studies have linked the compound to the development of arterial plaques. You can keep your cholesterol low by using medication and sticking to a healthy diet. Another area of concern is smoking cigarettes. The act of smoking cigarettes on a regular basis puts you at a high degree of risk for developing the deadly disease of discussion.

Now that you know more about coronary heart disease, you can better understand the dire situation that it represents. Also, you are more informed about what you can do in order to lessen your chances of developing this deadly disease. If you think that you are at risk, you should speak to your doctor in order to work out a plan that can keep your heart healthy and safe. The more that you ignore a problem with coronary heart disease, the worse off that you will be from a medical standpoint.

It’s not a problem that should be ignored. Coronary heart disease is responsible for widespread death in industrialized countries. Education is paramount to protecting yourself from this deadly disease.

The purpose of this article is to present heart disease facts that might help the reader in preventing heart disease in their life and in the lives of their loved ones.

Heart disease is a problem that affects a very significant number of people in industrialized countries. You can only prevent a case of heart disease from developing if you are informed about the illness, so in this article, we will be discussing some basic heart disease facts so that you will be better suited when it comes to understanding the problem that is known as heart disease.

Although many people realize that heart disease is a significant problem, few realize exactly how many people are afflicted with a heart disease related illness. As many as 1 out of 4 American citizens are victim to some form of heart disease, clearly exemplifying the threat that it presents.

Approximately one million Americans die each and every year as a result of a case of cardiovascular disease.

Cardiovascular disease includes heart disease or strokes; together, these two types of illnesses account for the number one cause of death in industrialized nations for both men and women.

Approximately forty two percent of all deaths are caused by cardiovascular disease.

Studies have shown that those who smoke cigarettes are twice as likely to have a heart attack than those who refrain from smoking. Low levels of physical activity are also associated with a high occurrence of heart attacks, with those who remain relatively stationary having a risk of developing a heart attack that is double that of those with an active lifestyle.

While doctors are often able to see accumulations of plaque present in the arteries surrounding the heart, it can be tough for them to gauge the risk of heart attack, as they often take the patient by surprise with little to no warning.

Since lifestyle choices have so much to do with ones chances of developing cardiovascular disease, it can be a shock to hear that as much as fifty percent of the American population do not participate in sufficient levels of physical activity.

Diet can have a lot to do with the development of cardiovascular disease, as well. Some studies have shown that those who maintain a vegetarian diet have a chance of developing cardiovascular disease that is twenty four percent less likely than those who eat meat

One good way of ensuring that you are maintaining your health when it comes to preventing heart disease is to measure your cholesterol. Proper cholesterol levels should be worked towards. Cholesterol levels that are above 200 mg/dl for total blood cholesterol, with LDL levels that are above 130 mg/dl or HDL levels that are below 35 mg/dl, as well as lipoprotein levels that are higher than 30 mg/dl represent a risk that needs to be addressed.

Now that you know much more about the ways to prevent cardiovascular disease and just how common the problem is, you will be better suited for diagnosing the problem and dealing with it. If you think that you are at risk for cardiovascular disease or any other form of heart disease, you should speak to a doctor in order to ensure that there is no problem present. Prevention is the key to surviving heart disease, so be sure to stay active and healthy!

Gum disease is a disease that many people have heard of but are unfamiliar with. This may be the reason that nearly 3/4th’s of adults in America are suffering from some form of this disease. While some cases of the disease may only cause some irritation, bleeding and occasional swelling, in it’s worst forms, this disease can cause adults to lose their teeth. Most people want to make sure they have their teeth and do not have to deal with false teeth and the best way that you can keep your natural teeth healthy is by making sure you keep your gums healthy.

Gum Disease Basics

Gum disease, which is also known as periodontal disease, basically refers to the damage that is done by bacteria and other negative factors in your mouth that obliterate the tissue of your gums. Plaque is the place where disease actually begins and it forms on your teeth without you being conscious that it is there and if you let the plaque go, it can then solidify to become what is known as tartar. Tartar buildup can lead to more bacteria between your teeth and on your gums and this can go on to lead to gum disease.

Symptoms of Gum Disease

While in the beginning, there may be no actual symptoms or signs of the disease, eventually there will be some symptoms that will appear. Some of the symptoms that can be experienced with gum disease include swollen gums, tender gums, gums that bleed easily (especially when brushing your teeth), consistent halitosis, loose teeth and gums that are receding away from your teeth. If you experience any of these symptoms, you should be sure to let your dentist know as soon as you can to prevent further deterioration.

Ways to Prevent Gum Disease

If you have no signs of disease, you may be wondering how you can keep from getting the dreaded disease. There are a variety of ways that you can protect yourself against gum disease if you are willing to take a little time to improve the health of your teeth and gums. First of all, it is very important that you brush your teeth thoroughly at least two times every day with a good toothpaste that contains fluoride. You should also floss every single day, as well, to get the plaque that is between your teeth that a toothbrush cannot reach. It is also important that you have regular cleanings that are done by a dental hygienist every six months, as well. Smoking has also been found to increase the risk of developing gum disease, so avoiding tobacco is a way that you can help keep gum disease from affecting you.

While gum disease does affect many people across the country, you do not have to be one of them. You can take control of the health of your gums and teeth and work to prevent disease. While it may just take a little time each day to prevent gum disease, in the long run, those few minutes a day can keep your teeth healthy and keep you from loosing your teeth.
